Discussing Issues Surrounding Career Opportunities (D.I.S.C.O) for Women Initiative
IBEDC prides itself for being an ardent promoter of equal opportunity irrespective of gender. The company has demonstrated its commitment to this through its initiative - D.I.S.CO (Discussing Issues Surrounding Career Opportunities) for women. This initiative kicked off in August 2016 with a conference in Ibadan, Oyo State and was aimed at empowering and creating equal opportunity for women in today’s workplace. As an organization, we are committed to the development and empowerment of women in the workplace and ensuring our gender equality goals are achieved.
The D.I.S.C.O for women conference had over 500 women in attendance drawn from various professions and works of life, and had key speakers such as: Ms. Imeh Okoh (Senior Special Assistant to the President on Infrastructure) , Engr. (Mrs) Mary E. Awolokun (former Commissioner Engineering Safety & Standard), Ms Ronke Owotomo (IBEDC Chief Financial Officer) and Engr. John Ayodele (IBEDC Chief Operating Officer), amongst others. This initiative which is in partnership with the United State Agency for International Development (USAID) is a aimed at promoting Nigerian women development and their role as a nation builder.
