The Deputy Managing Director of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC), Engr. John Ayodele has announced to the general public and its valued customers enjoying power supply from State House, Secretariat, Bashorun, Iwo Road and Oje Feeders which covers State House, Agodi GRA, Ikolaba, Secretariat, Old and some parts of New Bodija, Immigration Office area, Bashorun Market area, Iwo road, American Quarters, Geraldo areas, Old Tribune, Adeoyo Hospital area, Yemetu and their environs, that the renovation work that commenced on its Agodi Gate 2 x 15MVA, 33/11KV injection substation control room last week has been completed. The renovation he said, cost the company several millions of naira and IBEDC, as a responsive and responsible corporate citizen, is poised to meeting its service level agreement to revamp the electricity business under its purview.
The residents of these aforementioned areas had been duly informed beforehand of the benefits of the infrastructural upgrade and that it would result in a 5-day power outage. The Deputy Managing Director, Engr. John Ayodele in a statement, revealed that the essence of the renovation was to enable the company replace all the obsolete and decrepit panels with new and modern ones that will assist IBEDC provide optimum and efficient services to its valued customers. The Chief Technical Officer, Engr. Ade Ayileka also confirmed that the renovation work is one of the several planned interventions across our franchise area to improve supply and also to meet the yearnings and aspirations of their numerous valued customers.
The DMD further expatiated in his speech on the upgrading effort and pleaded with customers within these communities to be on guard against possible menace of vandalism against its equipment and materials. He further called on all security agencies and establishment to join in the fight against vandals; ‘The protection of our facilities is key to our providing quality service’, he asserted.
He then appealed for customers’ understanding and cooperation in this time of poor power allocation, ‘The situation will get better as assiduous efforts are on-going to bring succour to the electricity industry’, he reaffirmed. The entire management solicited for continuous prompt and adequate bill payments, vigilante watch over IBEDC facilities and support for the new tariff structure. These are tantamount to helping the company serve its numerous valued customers better, just as the company’s mission statement is to distribute effectively the available power supply to positively change the lives of its valued customers across the franchise.
