IBEDC Holds Customer Forum on Tariff Review
Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has held a customer engagement forum on the proposed tariff structure under the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) on Tuesday, 29th September 2015 at Jogor Event Centre Ibadan.
The new tariff structure which if approved would commence from the 1st of November 2015 was explained to the attendees in great detail. Speaking at the forum, the Chief Commercial Officer, Mr. Deolu Ijose presented the facts and figures to the large gathering. He said the review is needful going by the cost of operating as an electricity distributor in Nigeria. The proposed tariff, he added, is so made to fairly reflect the cost of doing business in the sector.
The Deputy Managing Director, Engr. John Ayodele further expanded on the capital intensive nature of the electricity business. He said there are many operational costs that the company must incur in order to stay afloat and urged the gathering to cooperate with their Disco so as to move the energy sector forward.
There was also a Q&A session where attendees were given the opportunity to ask questions in which the DMD duly clarified previously unclear aspects of the proposed tariff structure and responded to complaints.
