ibedc news IBEDC Intensifies Crackdown on Energy Theft Partners with SIPTEO

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) has met with key stakeholders in Ogun region, reaffirming its commitment to strategic network investments, targeted resource deployment and improved customer service to enhance quality and reliability of electricity supply to its Maximum Demand (MD) customers across its franchise.

The firm stated that maximum demand from customers play a vital role in driving economic growth, industrial productivity and employment, saying it recognised importance of reliable electricity supply to operations of its key stakeholders.

The engagements, held in Sagamu and Ota, provided a platform for direct engagement between IBEDC’s management and key industrial customers to address operational challenges, strengthen partnership and identify practical solutions to improve electricity supply.

Speaking with leaders of the company’s Maximum Demand customer segment in Ogun State, one of IBEDC’s franchise states, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of IBEDC, Deolu Ijose said one of the immediate priorities of the new management of the firm was to address investment constraints that had hindered network improvements.

He said the new management are now focused on deploying available resources strategically, strengthening its infrastructure and improving on its service delivery.

Ijose highlighted the progress being made under the company’s new Board and Management, which assumed leadership earlier this year following the end of a prolonged period of receivership that constrained critical network investments.

He said, “Our industrial customers are critical to the economic development of our franchise. We are undertaking feeder rehabilitation, deploying auto-reclosers and working with relevant stakeholders across the electricity value chain to address grid supply constraints.

“Our objective is to improve supply reliability and provide the enabling environment businesses need to grow.”

iBEDC reiterated its commitment to sustained stakeholder engagement, prompt fault response and the implementation of network improvement projects across its franchise.

The company also emphasised the importance of continued collaboration with industrial customers and other electricity value-chain stakeholders in addressing supply challenges and building a more reliable distribution network.

The engagements also highlighted key operational interventions being pursued by IBEDC to address customer concerns and strengthen service delivery, which include feeder reinforcement, vegetation management along distribution lines, deployment of dedicated fault-response and exploration of direct power purchase agreements (PPAs) and off-grid solutions to complement grid supply.

The discussions provided an opportunity for participating companies to share operational concerns, seek clarification on ongoing interventions and engage directly with the company’s leadership on practical measures to improve electricity supply.

In their remarks, representatives of participating companies welcomed the engagement, commending IBEDC for creating a platform for direct dialogue and demonstrating a willingness to address customer concerns.

One of the representative, Adekunle Hassan noted that electricity availability and voltage stability remain essential to manufacturing operations, adding that improved communication on infrastructure maintenance, line upgrades and fault resolution would support better production planning.
